Amanda Nance (she/her)

ACSW #136898, Supervised by Ellen Ottman, LMFT #124702

Healing doesn’t always happen sitting still. Sometimes it comes through creating art, connecting with nature, or punching our office pillows (if that’s more your style). Together, we’ll pay attention to what your emotions are asking for and explore ways to respond with care, curiosity, and action. My approach invites you to meet your needs in real time while building a deeper connection to your experiences.

I often work with survivors of trauma who struggle with their relationship with themselves or attachment to others. Together, we can honor what past versions of you did to survive while exploring whether those same patterns still serve you today. Your strengths, values, and learning style guide each session toward building a more secure future. My background in personal training may also support you in staying in tune with your body throughout the process.

Healing also doesn’t happen in isolation. The policies and intergenerational dynamics that surround you impact what growth looks like and how it unfolds. I support clients in navigating systems outside the therapy room, including gender-affirming care documentation and other advocacy-related needs when appropriate. I look forward to learning more about your path to therapy!

  • I offer in-person sessions in San Francisco, as well as online therapy for clients anywhere in California. You’re welcome to choose whichever option feels most supportive or convenient for you.

  • Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll discuss what’s been feeling challenging and what you’re hoping for, and start exploring what helps you feel safe and supported. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out — our work will unfold at your pace.

  • That depends on your goals. Some people come for short-term support around a specific concern, while others stay longer to do deeper healing work. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel useful and aligned with what you need.

  • Complete the contact form to request a free 15-minute consult. We’ll explore fit, goals, schedule, and next steps. If I’m not the best match, I’m happy to offer thoughtful referrals.
